What is Recruitment?
Recruitment is the period of time in which Fraternities on this campus recruit new members. Official recruitment lasts for 12 days, the last two of which being closed recruitment, where rushees attend only events they are specifically invited to. The day immediately following official recruitment is called "Bid Extension Day". This is the day when Fraternities will extend bids to those rushees they would like to join their organization. This if followed by 48 hours of silence in which you have to make your decision. Two days later is bid acceptance, the day when you inform which ever fraternity you would like to join that you intent to pledge them. This ends the official recruitment period for the spring.

  What recruitment events are manditory?
There are no manditory recruitment events. You may go to as many or as few as you want. Greek 101 is open to the public. Individual chapter open recruitment events are open events and can be attended by anyone. Closed recruitment events are attended by only those rushees specifically invited.

If I rush, do I have to pledge?
Absolutely not. The recruitment period is your time to see what fraternities are on this campus. It gives the fraternities a time to show what they are all about. If you rush, you are in no way obligated to pledge any fraternity, even if you recieve a bid from them. However, if you want to pledge a fraternity, although not manditory, it is heavily recommended that you participate in recruitment.
